Sport-Specific Features

Different sports have unique scoring rules:

5. Scoreboard Styles

Choosing Your Scoreboard Style

Personalize how your scoreboard looks:

  • Classic -- Traditional scoreboard design
  • Modern -- Sleek, minimalist interface

6. Geo-Scoring (Location-Verified Scoring)

What is Geo-Scoring?

Geo-scoring adds location verification to live game scores, ensuring the person updating the scoreboard is physically at the venue. This increases trust in the accuracy of live score data.

How to Check In at a Venue

Before scoring a game with geo-scoring enabled:

  • Ensure your device has location services enabled
  • When creating or joining a game, you'll see a 'Check In' option
  • Tap Check In and allow the app to access your location
  • The app confirms you're within the venue radius (typically 500 meters)
  • Once checked in, you can score the game normally

Trust Tiers

Geo-scored games are marked with trust indicators:

  • Green checkmark -- Score verified by on-site user (high trust)
  • Blue indicator -- Score not verified or remote entry (standard trust)
  • You'll see who verified each score and when it was recorded

Managing Location Consent

To control when the app requests location access:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy
  • Toggle Location Services on/off
  • The app will only request permission when you're in the scoring flow

Can't upload images

Login issues

If you can't log in:

  • Double-check your email address is correct
  • Verify the password (use 'Forgot Password' if unsure)
  • Check if you're using the correct app -- make sure it's 'ScoreBoardNow', not a different app
  • On web, try clearing browser cookies and logging in again

Clearing Cache for Developers

If you're testing the app locally during development:

  • Run: npx expo start --go --clear
  • This clears the Expo Go cache and ensures fresh app data
  • Useful after significant code changes or when troubleshooting

13. Artificial Intelligence Features

AI Chatbot

Get instant answers to your sports scorekeeping questions from our AI-powered chatbot.

How to access:

  • Look for the chatbot icon (usually in the app's main menu or settings)
  • Type your question and press Send
  • The AI provides instant responses

What it can help with:

  • Finding specific games or teams on the platform
  • Understanding how platform features work
  • Troubleshooting common issues
  • Learning sports rules and scoring
  • General questions about ScoreBoardNow 2.0

Tips for best results:

  • Ask clear, specific questions (e.g., 'How do I change my scoreboard style?' rather than 'How do I settings?')
  • If the chatbot doesn't understand, try rephrasing your question
  • For complex technical issues, you may need to contact human support at support@scoreboardnow.com

When to contact human support instead:

  • Account billing or payment issues
  • Account access problems or security concerns
  • Complex disputes or appeals
  • If the chatbot repeatedly fails to help

AI Scoreboard Capture

Use your phone's camera to photograph a physical scoreboard and let our AI extract the scores automatically.

How to take a good photo:

  • Ensure the scoreboard is well-lit (ideally natural or bright indoor lighting)
  • Position the camera straight on to the scoreboard (not at an angle)
  • Make sure the entire scoreboard is visible in the frame
  • Avoid shadows, glare, or obstructed sections
  • Hold the camera steady for a clear, focused image
  • Take the photo from a distance where numbers are readable

How to review extracted scores:

  • After submitting your photo, the app displays AI-extracted scores
  • Carefully review each number to ensure accuracy
  • The AI may sometimes misread faded, worn, or unusual font scoreboards

How to correct errors before publishing:

  • If a score was misread, tap the incorrect number and manually enter the correct value
  • Review all fields (score, time, period, fouls, etc.) before confirming
  • Once you confirm, scores are saved to your game record

Supported scoreboard types:

  • Electronic scoreboards (most common)
  • LED scoreboards
  • Flip scoreboards
  • Painted or printed scoreboards
  • Note: Very old, faded, or damaged scoreboards may have lower accuracy

Tips for best results:

  • Use good lighting to maximize legibility
  • Take multiple photos if the first doesn't work
  • Ensure no part of the scoreboard is obscured
  • If accuracy is consistently poor, try adjusting angle or lighting

AI Privacy Controls

You have full control over how your AI data is used.

How to opt out of AI training:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > AI Training
  • Toggle 'Allow AI Training' off
  • Your data will not be used to improve our AI models
  • This setting is independent of general data collection

How to delete AI data:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Delete AI Data
  • Confirm the action
  • All AI interaction history and related data is permanently deleted
  • This does not affect your game records or account data

Where to find AI settings:

  • Settings > Privacy > AI Features
  • Here you can manage all AI-related permissions and preferences
  • Review which AI features are enabled on your account
